Ciao! (A Zomato Meet-up)

Spread the love

This is basically a copy of my ZOMATO review (just warning you so that you don’t feel cheated ;)) I decided to create a seperate category for Zomato meet-ups on the blog, because we do realise that it is a tad different from having a ‘normal’ lunch or dinner out. A

But I wanted to share Noble Savage’s awesome photos as well – it wasn’t part of the Zomato write-up, wanted to get that done ASAP after our foodie meetup 🙂

I was quite excited to be invited to Ciao! as part of a Zomato Meetup (our first!  If I can just add that piece of info).  Friends of ours are regular visitors to Ciao! and it has been on our ‘to check out’ list for a while.

Loved the warm and welcoming decor, with little bits of detail that make you look twice (like the crates on the ceiling of the room we dined in.

We were welcomed with some sangria – interestingly infused with cinnamon sticks instead of fruit, like a chilled gluhwein 😉  The wine list is quite good as well – it was good to find a few gems listed (like Fairview’s The Goatfather – a quirky and very drinkable favourite!).

We tried a platter of starters (including fried brinjals, calamari fritti, caprese pesto salad, and foccaccia – feta and herb and piccante).

I really enjoyed the calamari fritti – a great combination of deep fried squid heads and sweet chili jam, caprese is always a winner, and the piccante focaccia that had a bit of a bite, not too spicy – juuuust right 🙂  And then… mains!

Fillet Halloumi, Panzerotti, Pavia Pizza (light gorgonzola and avo), Sesame Chicken Salad and Polpeta Pizza (mini meatballs).  I simply loved the Pavia Pizza – the base can be a little more crispy, but it was quite tasty – so much we even had an extra slice ;).  And now… this was my HIGHLIGHT of the menu – the desserts!

Perfect crack on the crème brulee, gorgeous traditional Italian cheesecake and the most divine Amaretto cheesecake.  Seriously delicious.  And for the brave – espresso and grappa!  It was really a great night out!

Would like to go back for a weekend lunch and see what the “normal” service and vibe is like 🙂

It was such a fun night out with our new Zomato Buddies, it was actually a good thing that we were seated in a seperate area, because the noise levels went throught the roof!  LOL!  It must be all the carbs raising everyone’s serotonin levels 😉  Always a good thing!  #LoveCarbs!
